20 years ago I began selling my pure beeswax candles and hand printed cards at an annual Holiday Sale with other Sebastopol artisans. We set up shop in an old pencil factory and the good cheer of the annual holiday sale began. Over time BeeGarden grew and expanded. Twelve years ago my husband, David, began keeping bees and BeeGarden became a source for fabulous honey, salves and lip balms.

Unfortunately the honeybee, Apis Mellifera, has suffered a great calamity. This catastrophe collectively known as Colony Collapse Disorder is still a mystery as to what is the cause. Due to this disorder beekeepers everywhere have lost significant amounts of hives. Some people believe that it is caused by an imbalance in our natural environment. The hope is that beekeepers will move away from the use of chemicals in the hive and let natural selection take its course. Consequently, I am unable to purchase large amounts of beeswax for making my candles. Hopefully over time the bees will recover and BeeGarden will resume the business of candle making.

I so miss the Holiday Sale and all of the wonderful and enthusiastic patrons who have supported the bees and me over the years. I look forward to future sales and more candles to warm the winter nights.

Feel free to email me if you have any inquires regarding BeeGarden products.
